I have to admit to very occasionally taking a call when driving, though most of the time I'll take my phone out of my pocket and either reject the call or use the auto text option (two taps and it sends the caller a message stating: "I am driving.") Ideally I would like to answer most calls, as well as occasionally make some, and so a convenient, safe and legal alternative is required!
I have decided not to go down the fully integrated car kit route at this time, (maybe with the PC instal, but that's a way off yet!) but instead to get a decent bluetooth headset (with noise cancelling) and some kind of phone holder. Does anybody have any recommendations for these items?
I have seen a Jawbone Aliph Prime unit that looks quite appealing, discounted from £89 to about £30, and that is the current favourite. I am not a massive fan of windscreen suction cup mounted phone holders, and wondered what alternatives there would be, (that don't involve screwing into or permanently marking the dash!) maybe with a thin plate that can be mounted within an existing joint in the interior panels of the centre console?
I need to make a decision quickly, as they will need to be ordered in the next couple of days to receive them in good time for Christmas! All input appreciated...

I have an alpine stereo in the lex and that's ok.
But the parrot I have in the Beemer is awesome clear and reliable.

I'm from a generation where if you needed to talk to someone while you were out, it would for an emergency.. and you had to find a phonebox.. and then go find a working one, so I have no difficulty ignoring my phone in the car. I have never yet found a circumstance where it was so urgent to talk to anyone that it couldn't wait until I stopped. It would be impossible in Suki to hold a phone converation anyway lol

My misses will pick up if she is there, but I'm driving increasingly more for work, and sometimes have to take work related calls whilst out and about.

Also, I live in a basement apartment with 18" thick walls, phone signal when standing by the doors to the garden is great, a few metres away (on the sofa) it is non-existant. I figured I could leave my phone by the door, in signal, and wander around the room or even sit on my sofa with the headset, instead of standing in the doorway - as I have been doing for four years now!
The holder will also come in handy when using Google's brilliant Sat Nav.

Have to say the integrated hands free in my Kenwood stereo in the MR2 was blindingly good, they use Parrot for that. Maybe something like this would be up your street? http://www.parrot.com/catalog/products/p...kit-smart/

A friend of mine has a decent fixed mount in his RX8 for a Motorola android device, I will see if I can find out what brand it is.
I had a headset for a while and I found that I just kept forgetting to put it on, and fumbling around trying to get it out of my pocket/door pocket/glovebox/wherever and switch it on and get it in my ear was a lot more fumbling than just answering the phone. Sods law would dictate that the only time I got a phonecall was when I'd forgotten to put the headset on.

I thought getting a proper hands free oolution was the responsible thing to do, rather than holding the phone to my ear with my shoulder 'hands free'! I could see it being tricky if you were charging at full pace in Suki, I don't know where you drive, but I spend half my time in my car stationary or crawling along in traffic!
You haven't heard Suki yet have you, she is loud constantly and I am deaf in one ear and struggle with conversation when there is a lot of other noise around me. But goodluck getting a good kit, a portable one considering how many cars you have lol

01-11-2018, 04:44 AM #10Regarding a phone holder, I have a Brodit one. It's not cheap by any stretch of the imagination, but it's the best one I have seen for the Lex.
