toxo You don't want to run a ct20b at 1.2 bar unless you like replacing pistons. 1.15 should be the absolute limit and only with GOOD supporting cooling (no eBay intercoolers).

Meth and water injection have bottles you have to refill from time to time but the kits usually have a warning LED to tell you when the level is getting low. So almost fit and forget!

Ok i guess i'll run 1.1 bar then, im running at 1 bar currently, so .1 will make a bit of a difference i guess.
Will the ct20b perform better on the strip than the ct26 with no further mods?

So if i did go for metal headgasket and ct20b..what else could i do? my budget would be around 2k ..that's including labour. £700 for gasket by luke, ct20b not sure on labour?

The head rebuild is what you get for your £700, you have to replace the gasket when you take the head off anyway so it's incidental. However when taking the head off it's easiest to take the turbo off as well. So provided you'd bought a CT20b (or Luke had found you one) in advance it's no extra labour. That is of course assuming you don't end up having to drill out the bolt for the turbo support bracket like I did!

For peace of mind you could get the turbo rebuilt in advance... that's about £300.

You could do a complete rev3 conversion perhaps... you need a rev3 ECU + engine loom and a few sensors to do that. It won't bump you up to rev3 power (rev3s are lower compression which is what the ECU is mapped for, so the VE is wrong when you put a rev3 ECU on a rev1 engine) but it's still better than the rev1 ECU.

Chargecooler? If you could find one off an ST185 it would fit straight on, ST205 one needs mucking about with. Heatsoak can be a problem on the strip, you're sat around for a long time before you get to do your run. You don't get any heatsoak with a chargecooler.

why not just buy a REV3 Turbo engine with everything you need and do a straight swap

To be fair that probably would be the best option..otherwise im changing everything to make it near to rev3, but it never will be..problem is, where could i get a decent rev3 engine without buying the whole car?
I've looked in the past and struggled to find someone with one that knows what they are talking about.

Oh if you go down that route you probably want the gearbox too, rev1 gearboxes aren't particularly strong. I dunno if yours currently has an LSD but they became very common at rev3 so it'd be a nice upgrade for you!

We should've caught up today and had a chat about it, but us both having to leave early kinda put a stop to that!
