Stoney That is why many people have looked into it, yet only one person (I think) has done it successfully! That is also why the TTE kits are worth £2k!

jimbob150385 if i coulg get one ive got money waiting mate i am in need of of one bad!!! i got most of the other parts cradle is what is holding me up! name ur price lol

At least one, if not two TTE charger kits available at the mo. You said you just needed one to come up, as you had money waiting. Check the for sale section, Bandit's is a good one too.

Sorry to re-start an old thread, but this should follow on from the first problems I was experiencing.

Firstly, a quick recap on my car.

DIY supercharger install (using the electric clutch to be able to turn the supercharger 'on' and 'off'), ebay intercooler, HKS SQV BOV (rather than the bypass valve) and one of Patriks Black Boxes (which has replaced the HKS FCD)

Problems/issues I am having at the moment are:

First gear?!? Is everyone elses supercharger not practical when 'booting' it in first gear? When I turn the supercharger 'on' and try to do a quick start in 1st gear, the rear wheels just spin, changing to 2nd gear isnt much use either. Is this normal? Or do I just need to remove my lead boot from my right foot?

Expanding this problem, when the rear wheels do spin, and traction control kicks in, obviously its cuts the power. But once you lift off and traction control is 'satisfied', the car doesn't want to accelerate, as if its in some sort of limp mode, spluttering etc. If you give it about 10 seconds of 'normal' driving, everything seems to go back to normal. Does anyone else get this problem?

Apart from that, everything is OK. Puts a smile on my face anyway.

Hmm I never experienced any spinning with my IS when charged,

Cheeky question but are you running decent rubber?

And the traction control sounds normal, it's a terrible system on the is.

Got Toyo T1R's all round - Had Goodyear Eagle F1's on before it was charged, I was glad when I got them off, The Toyo's seemed a much better upgrade at the time

I did think it was the weather, but being out tonight, which is dry, and fairly warm (for Feb anyway) and its still the same

Does it actually go into limp mode or is it the TRC that messes with your driving? If it's the TRC, try turning it off and see if you still experience any lack of power or spluttering.

Sparkystav Hmm I never experienced any spinning with my IS when charged,

Me neither. (Not unless you really dump the clutch on full throttle in the wet!) I have had a couple of charged cars over the years and wheel spin was never an issue, I'm not sure there is quite enough power?

I am interested in how your kit runs with a BOV instead of a bypass cable. I have heard they don't run well and/or sound terrible.

I'll try and get a video tonight, BUT I have also (If I haven't previously mentioned) put a micro switch on the throttle body, to switch the supercharger 'off' when the throttle body is closed.

Basically, I have one switch inside the car to turn the supercharger 'on', and when this switch is 'on', the microswitch on the throttle body turns the charger 'off' when the throttle body is closed.

I can easily bypass the microswitch on the throttle body and get a video, just to show what it sounds like, but IMO, it sounds bad.

I have started collecting parts to make a bypass valve, similar to the standard TTE one, but using a throttle body off a Ducati motorbike. I'll probably have that done by the end of March if I get time.

hi,
just wondering why the charger would sound bad? is it to do with the air pressure being unequal from inlet to outlet?
would this only happen at low revs and idle, because when the bypass is shut under load the air route is the same with or without a bypass,or am i just being thick:confused:
