Rolex Evo are good but you must have very deep pockets to run them.

If you are planning on using it as a dialy driver I would say keep the IS200 and sitck a V8 in it.

Reliable power.

I looked on the MLR website at their calculator thing, fuel will be about the same under average driving, although they are a couple of hundred more per year in servicing, but that's about it really. IS200 isn't exactly cheap to run as it is! lol

The cost of upgrading to a nice Evo will probably be about the same as putting a V8 in the Lex too, decisions decisions. lol

I didn't read the listing fully - saw PX for a Lex 200 and thought I had seen one here wanting a new home lol.

Evo's are savage on your wallet mate. The problem is its a full blown race car and thusly requires the attention one deserves so........

3000 mile oil change with decent ol at between 30 - 50 quid per change plus filter.

Then when you kane its its going to need tyres and cheap rubber will not cut it with these cars.

Clutch - There 2 Grand for double plate which you will need if you even think about increasing the horsepoer in anyway(this is subject to anyones personal preference but I would not use anything less)

Fuel - Bare in mind the Evo's are claibrated to run on 99 ron miniumum so its going to be V power all the time.

Plus the issue they suffer with YAW control etc(Inherit from the EVO6 not too sure if they ever finally ironed out the kinks). The list CAN be endless especially if you buy a high mileage ones thats probably been abused by every owner previous at it got to that value where most people thought BUY,RAG IT then push it on.

If its had more the 4 owners I would be very wary.

The 2 people I know the had them one is an EVO 8 which is white and green you may have seen it at Japfest - He tooks his off the road and raced it and when I asked why he did not road drive it said did not see the point in podling it about and wanted to properly use it. The other was his mate with a black EVO 9 FQ320 and he was always cooking clutches, tyres, brakes.

But its your choice mate. I can only advise.

It's only a performance turbocharged road car so needs the same servicing and care as any other turbocharged road car.

Like any car which has a bit of oomph - it needs mechanical empathy shown to it or it will break. This isn't unique to the evo.

It's only a performance turbocharged road car so needs the same servicing and care as any other turbocharged road car.

Like any car which has a bit of oomph - it needs mechanical empathy shown to it or it will break. This isn't unique to the evo.

What I've read and heard all they a lot more is oil changes and service other than that can't really comment as I've never owned one but love them

I looked on the MLR forum and found some info about the servicing etc.

Service interval is 4500 on most of them, although that's only engine oil and filter.

But the EVO 8 FQ300 (the 260hp one?), which is the model I quite fancy has a 9000 mile interval because it's not quite as finely tuned as the others.

Still very much an option though, need to do some serious thinking.

Yeah but for how long will it be "only" 260hp? As these are easily tuned.

Sad news that you are thinking of ditching the Lexus. Though if it is power (or low running costs) that you are after, then it is maybe not the ideal car for you!

If you are stripping yours for parts, I still want your Greddy exhaust and a couple other bits! lol

260hp I could definitely live with, and insurance is still affordable at that level.

Running costs aren't a factor with my thoughts on changing/upgrading. Its purely power, I love the Lex, its looks great, handles well, its comfortable, but it could really have done with an IS300 engine. Its brilliant in every other aspect, but the lack of power was a big mistake by Lexus/Toyota in my eyes.

I'm still hoping a DIY supercharger might cure my want for change, but even that is proving harder than first thought because of the cradle.
