Done some more work and may have found the 'smoking gun' so to speak.

I've got the idle control valve hole blocked off because I use a different method, but the blank I'm using was originally made for the 1ggte manifold. I thought I'd adapted it enough but when I was investigating tonight I took it off and the gasket was bent and blackened in that area as though it had had win pushing past it.

Will make a new blank tomorrow (bit late to be sawing and grinding lol) and see if it cures the problem.

But I've compression tested the car and they seem all ok, all around 150. Checked all the pipe work and that seems all ok and sealed.
Also checked the power to the injectors and igniters and that's all there ok. Fingers crossed this works.

I've also refitted my old rad that was weeping at the top so I can test the engine tomorrow once I've made this plate and cleaned the plugs up.

Right well the Sunday didnt go too well. Fitted the new panel and it still ran rough Sad
removed every pipe and sealed them up and still nothing! i was fuming now so spent the day in the pub after a christening rather than back onto the car.

Then i went away with work on Monday till yesterday so no work went on, just 4 days racking my brains trying to figure it out.

So got back onto it today with a massive list of things to do i'd thought of throughout the week.
first was to change and clean the plugs again and do another compression test to be sure. Did this and changed the coil packs for my spare set. Still running rough Sad
then started checking all the wires and when i checked the earth strap on the manifold the bolt was loose!

checked all the others on the manifold and tight wouldnt be a word i'd use to describe them!
however when tightening them up i snapped one! so have had to take the whole inlet manifold off again, will attempt to get some better studs tomorrow and hopefully that should cure the problems!!!

figures crossed!

Assuming you've found the problem, I guess that's not too bad is it.

Still massively frustrating, but tightening up some bolts isn't the end of the world.

Good luck, hope to see and hear it running beautifully soon.

yeah its just the 4 days of thinking the worse whilst ive been away.

Id does fit with the problem though. One thing i have realised is that i havent connected up the noise filter on the ignitors, thats why my radio was buzzing, need to find it from the pile of parts and put that back whilst im at it.

Well crossing fingers didnt work.

Got some better studding and put the manifold back on. Still as rough.

So has anyone any ideas?

Symptoms:
Won't idle without some throttle
Sounds rough/missing
Low vacuum (nearly 0, more vacuum as car is revved slightly)
Chucks smoke out the back

Tests done:
-compression test done all 150ish psi on a cold engine.
-inlet manifold tight
-coils checked, and replaced
-sparks checked and replaced
-12v feed to all igniters
-12v to all injectors
-good earth to each igniter
-good connection back to ecu for injectors and igniters
-all igniters fire on crank

Any ideas?
