Hopefully a few of you guys who are subscribed to the thread can answer this...

I'd like to know how what I can install before the charger is operational?

My plan is to order the intercooler soon, and when it arrives I'll fit it and add enough pipe so that the bumper doesn't have to come off a 2nd time do finish the installation. And I can fit my LED's in the bumper while it's off (hopefully before Ace)

One comment that the euro guys have made about us over in the UK, is that we seem to be all too keen on upgrading pulleys etc. without installing proper monitoring equipment such as guages.

So I've got my eye on one of these, as I'd like to keep the number of guages to a minumum, and this does AFR and Boost all in one...

Bit expensive, but it's cheaper than a blown up engine.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AEM-FAILSAFE-A...795wt_1185

So could I install that before the charger is running too? And how hard would it be?

yeah should be able to fit them bits,i did my intercooler and pipe work 1st,then boost guage and oil temp guage.the cooler was a pain in the butt, the guages were ok though.
while still fiddling with the charger and cradle,im still fiddling with a few bits at the mo,looking to fit a bypass,so that means charger of and more fabing and welding,it never stops haha,at least the weathers better.
the car is boring when its n/a though after having the charger running.

i see gauges as life support machines, you wouldnt do heart surgery on a person without monitoring the important things, and the engine is too all extenses the heart of the car so the more you can look at the better really, thats how i see it anyway.
that aem one looks nice and i see no harm in connecting it up beforehand, plus it will show you how your afr is doing before you put the charger in then connect vac line when your ready to start boosting.

have you looked at zeitronix stuff? digi gauges on screen gtr stylee, and can set warnings data log and loads of cool stuff but you'll need a car pc to run it

Well I'm open to suggestions on the brand at the moment, my only really criteria is that it's in a single gauge as I want it to look like a standard car to the untrained eye.

That Zeitronix thing does sound rather funky, but I only really need the two displays (afr and boost) so it sounds like it would be a bit OTT for my needs. Sad

You don't actually need a boost gauge, you can set the ecu to cut fuel on overboost so that will save the engine.

Afr is a must for any car with forced induction IMHO.

But too many gauges just make you worry lol.

This is why I want to keep it minimal, I'm not into the whole Fast and Furious cover my dashboard in gauges look. I just want to see the important stuff, obviously AFR is top priority, and being able to see the boost would be useful mostly just so I can spot if anything comes loose and starts leaking air out.

EDIT: That AEM guage I linked to can also be set to trigger an output if the AFR goes outside set parameters. Could be linked to a relay that turns off the charger or whatever else would be good for it to do.
