Sunny failed its MOT today, but not on any of the original fail points or advisories (so I've done something right! :lolSmile. I've got a major front brake imbalance, which I suspect is the driver's side caliper sticking, and the handbrake only works on one side on the rear.

A weekends fettling should see the Nissan on the road by Monday!

1 hand brake cable was seized because it had corroded, so it was jammed in the off position. Did a pikey fix, took the cable off the car, sprayed f**king loads of plusgas down it and rotated the outer of the cable with the end in a vice. 10 minutes of that freed it up and the amount of PG that's in there it shouldn't corrode up again with regular use. If it does I'll replace it but it will be OK for the MOT retest. Handbrake is now A+, you can't pull away with it on even with loads of revs.

As for the front brakes, the driver's side has a split boot on the piston so the piston has corrosion on it. I've freed it up and on both sides have wire brushed, regreased and copperslipped where appropriate (the pads were also jammed in the carrier) and bled new fluid through. Hopefully that will go some way towards remedying the imbalance... we shall see! If not Brakes International have pro refurbed calipers for £46

Oh also got something very important out of the way - Sony head unit fitted from the Fiesta, cardboard Clarion 6W 6x9s removed and replaced with some 3-way Kenwood 60W which just bolted straight in. Fiesta returned to stock! Wiped the engine bay down with APC to get rid of the years worth of crud and oily fingerprints and HM sprayed the exhaust heatshield silver.
