if its going past the rings then pistons out and changing them should fix it.

Im thinkning maybe your PCV valve is blocked?
If its not pulling air through to change the gases then it could be the source of the problem?

Basically the valve on the other side of the head that goes to the inlet manifold.
try that first, certainly a cheaper option!
Stix44 Just checked oil - it's definitely using A LOT its gone from the 'full' dot to the 'low' dot in sub a 1000 miles.

Sorry for multiple post, but I've just been doing some reading around and a few people have suggested that it could be a blocked exhaust? I'm guessing it would cause a lot of back pressure, forcing oil out of the PCV?
Might be worth checking as SC's are notorious for killing cats?
