Actually guys does anyone have a link to the `how to` article for removing the noise reducing valve please? I have done a search and nothing came up, also found username bandit and was going to go through his posts till I found it but there's over 6000 and I don't have the time so if anyone knows where the article is that would be very helpful thanks!

You don't get an edit button until you are a paid up member :-)

Go to the advanced search (press search and then link is below the box you type in) and put butterfly in the text box and bandit in the username box. It might be clearer if you select to show threads rather than posts by user.

I would link to it but I'm on my phone!

Little advise for you if you not machaically minded.

DON'T touch the MAF sensor again. They are very fragile and 9 out of 10 even spraying the stuff that evaporates off can **** em up.

Trust me I ****** up two on a Skyline.

That rather depends on the type of MAF. Hotwire MAFs are notoriously fragile but very few manufacturers use them these days! Good advice though, if you don't touch it you can't break it Smile

You say don't touch the MAF sensor, sorry to sound stupid but do you mean "don't put your fingers on it while cleaning it" (which I didn't) or "don't go anywhere near it even to clean it with a spray"? (which is how I did it- I was careful not to actually touch the little glass looking probe thing, just carefully sprayed it with the recommended carburettor (sp?) cleaner...

If it still works then no issue, a check engine light would show if it was damaged. Best not to do anything to it unless the car is faulty.....

totally worn out and broken, shouting 'Holy ****, WHAT A RIDE!'"

I've been getting an intermittent cel (secondary air intake something or other) since having the engine rebuilt a year ago under warranty (snapped con rod) only comes on randomly I've just done nearly 700 miles inbetween episodes of it coming on and only ever comes on when first starting engine, I only cleaned the maf around 8 months after that cel started so it's maybe nothing to do with me cleaning the maf?
