Cig lighter and sat nav question(aftermarket sterio)

So any help much appreciated
So I fitted an aftermarket sterio a couple months back, when I did this the cig lighter socket stopped working? I'm not that fussed about it really but wondered if I've just simply missed something?
Also I knew the satnav would stop working with the new sterio.
But is there any way I could just get the map back on the screen without sound?
