anyone replaced top ball joints
anyone replaced top ball joints
Hi all,
Last year my mot tester said he had a little excess play and depending on how much I drive I.e miles whether it would be ok for the next one.
So I'm just going to change them for piece of mind more than anything
Is there anything I should be weary off when doing this job I'm pretty sure its fairly easy to do but just making sure I don't miss something I need to know
Hi Pat, I fitted coilovers yesterday. Was fairly easy to split the front top ball joint. Not sure how you get it off the wish bone though.
But my last is200 the one same colour as yours, when I took that for Mot the first time. The tester there said there was a bit of play in the ball joints, but there was nothing wrong with them the next time I took it for Mot somewhere else. So might be worth getting a second opinion?
No worries, let us know how you get on, coz I put a little hole in the boot when splitting mine, so will have to change it at some point.
Just get a hammer and a splitter (these sell on eBay for a few quid).
The pin and castle nut come off easily. Then just go to work with the hammer, tapping around the joint. I only needed to use the spliter on one side. Watch out when it pops out, coz the hub will drop and the upper arm will spring upwards too.
It's pretty straight forward, give us a shout if you get stuck.
