Once done you will still need to down load those application from Apple but you dont want to update your phone with their software or it will freeze your phone
The jail breaks really allows you to add the latest software and application, away from the o2 network.

I think the iPhone 3Gs has finally reached the point where it now does do everything it really should have done in the first place, but in any case it is now a much more complete device with still the slickest UI on the market.
One thing I don't know though is can you still not do 2 things at the same time like play music and write an email? If that still is the case that would be a major annoyance.....
However Android is getting closer and closer and it won't be long before they can provide everything the iPhone does and more with a choice of different handsets and networks unless apple decide they're not going to keep releasing the same handset and give us something new!
