I know that but it does say "loosens rusty parts and stops squeaking joints" or something along those lines, so i don't see what was so wrong with trying it especially when the bolt and surrounding area was quite rusty. So i don't consider Phil's "criticism" relevant in this case

Phil01 Four experienced motor mechanics using WD40 as a release agent???It may not have worked, But we've all been in the same position. When you're out of ideas, WD40's a better option that eyeballing the bolt or nut and WILLING it to loosen.

It may not be the best penetrating oil on the market any more, But it's cheap, And available off the shelf from pretty much every vaguely car or DIY related shop out there.
If it's rust that's holding a fastener, I'll usually make a bluetac "Container" around it then fill it with a strong solution of Deox C for a few hours. Then, 9 times out of 10 it comes off without any drama.
If some muppet's glued something on with half a gallon of thread lock, I break out the blowtorch......... But if you can't heat it because of plastic or rubber fittings, You've got to try whatever you can.
Even if the likelihood of success is slim to none, It's better than trying to stare it loose.

Especially when the four experienced mechanics are 2 diesel-macs and one of their apprentices, plus myself who has 1st and second year motor mechanics and 2 year apprenticeship at Ritters toyota in Windhoek Namibia.

Pretty much everything in the first photo was required to change a foglight bulb...
Also did spark plugs on Dan's car. It's always a bad sign when you have a bit of oil on the spark plugs... the plug wells in this case were FULL of oil!
This was the best of the 4, the others were worse.
