Just checked the parts catalogue...looks like the transfer housing is on the rear of the gearbox, with a central rear output for the rear diff (like most RWD boxes) and an offset output facing forwards on the driver's side, which goes forwards with a short prop to a separate front diff.

Do you have the 4wd altezza Gita parts list?

Hmm so it could work. Would need a front axle though, to fit around the engine.

Ideas ideas.

On the Gita (1G or 2J) the diff is on the driver's side like the Hilux, but the passenger side front driveshaft goes through a channel in the upper sump (the aluminium part not the steel oil pan).

On the Hilux it doesn't. Hilux is rear sump so the front diff sits just forwards of that.

Can you fit a 1G-FE sump to a 1G-GTE? Assuming your engine sits in the same place as the stock 1G then you could swap the sump on, and run a driveshaft straight through the engine!

yes i run a 1gfe sump on mine, as theres a couple of versions of the GTE sump, one rare winged version, but the majority are central sumps and no good for fitting into the IS200

Remember all Gitas are auto, so you'd be talking about taking the transfer box off and putting it onto a different gearbox (or keeping it auto, or maybe a sequential conversion? Big Grin)

Also evidently I was wrong (it was late!) the Gita runs the diff on the passenger side. The Gbox in the 1GFE Gita is an A340H and if you look here the parts can be modified into a 4runner/hilux gearbox:
