Little write up on the evolution of my car
Little write up on the evolution of my car
Well the same as jimbob I'm racing against time to get the car ready for mod nats.
I finished tidying up the engine loom:
Then stripped the engine back and took it to the engine builders so it could be honed etc ready for me to put it back together.
I've got a small problem to overcome, where one of my 'tuner nuts' broke, then whilst I was drilling the stud out a drill bit broke grr.
So I've removed the hub with the wheel still attached (not an easy job!), bought a new hub for the car and i now need to destroy the standard hub from behind to get my wheel back. It's much cheaper to buy a new hub from eBay than a new 10 inch wide 19" wheel!
I was only taking the wheels off to bleed all the new brake lines I've made.
I've since put better clips, and supports on the lines to hold them safely.
I've also decided to change round my interior. I did had a custom pod with 4 gauges and my racelogic controls that looked like this;
And a custom screen unit that fitted underneath a single DIN stereo.
But I decided its time for a change....
So I've bought a satnav unit and I've custom fitted a 7" screen into it
And I've gone back to a standard DIN and pocket design, though smoothed it out for a more OEM look.
The petrol button actually pops the boot but I can't find a Toyota button with the boot symbol the correct way round.
So my new centre console looks like this:
As you can see there is no space for the gauges now, however my dash2 unit can take upto 4 inputs so I've added the signals to that for a cleaner look.
Except my wideband sensor which will be fitted into this custom unit when I've finished it:
My racelogic also now lives here:
So the interior is now looking cleaner IMHO with less 'rocket ship' inside, but still all the data available to check the car is running sweet.
Shiny new k&n to help the engine breath!
We're also trailing some new bigger stickers that I've put on my new daily and the lex
Hopefully well get these bigger sizes in the club shop ASAP!
No problem mate, I was going to badger you again tomorrow about them to remind you lol.
Your going to miss the spaceship look mate
But I must admit it's looking less cluttered
Awesome work.... love the attention to detail and the custom made bits
