I've been sorting out my dads old car today before its sold on Saturday. Its been stood for a year now so I gave it a good clean and new battery and started it up and left if to run for a good while making sure the engine warmed up well. The engine is running perfectly smoothly and I put some redex in also. The problem I have though is I took it for a quick drive and it seems to be hesitating a bit and doesn't pull. Its a 2.0 SE auto. It judders during acceleration between 15 and 30 mph. Best way to describe it is like a clutch slipping. Any ideas guys?

Fairly old. I'd say at least 6months more than likely more. I put a couple of litres in it though after the bit of redex. Its currently on reserve as well but not that low that it may cut out.

The old SR20 Engine's are pretty bulletproof... Been running them for years.

Get some good quality fuel in it... Get it warm and give it a few good high RPM kicks.

If it continues to stutter it may be the MAF (mass air flow sensor)

I think I still might have a spare in the shed of u need it.

Just drop me a pm.

Thanks very much mate! The car will hopefully be going in for its mot this weekend so will give it a good warm up beforehand. I did give the engine bay a quick blast with my pressure washer so could be a possible cause but I've cleaned the car previously with no issues. Will defo put some good fuel in it though.

Yeh mate. It seems much better now. Took it for a run yesterday before its mot and it was still hesitating a bit even after I'd put fresh fuel in but after a good while it seemed to get better. It passed the mot with only a couple of minor advisories thankfully. After the mot it was running perfectly fine so fingers crossed it should be ok for it to be sold this week. Already got a buyer lined up so hopefully it won't let me down!
