Help! Fake skf bearing or not
Help! Fake skf bearing or not
Hi
I recently bought a new front wheel bearing for my lexus is200 from http://www.auto-onderdelen24.nl
I bought it as a "skf wheel bearing"
It came in a sealed SKF brand box but once opened there was a nachi brand stamped in the bearing.
Is this a fake bearing or are skf and nachi cooperative?
I am a bit worried that i got some kind of fake imitation bearing.
On the bearing it says: Nachi japan and some numbers
I've only ever heard good things about Nachi
If you google SKF Nachi there seems to be a lot of websites saying lots of these companies work with/use Nachi parts.. Might be worth contacting SKF and enquiring if they do for your peace of mind
So i contacted a skf bearing distributor today. He told me i dont have to worry about nachi bearings. He said only good things about nachi. He also told that it is very common in automotive that brands like skf and nachi use eachothers bearings and put them in their own boxes. Each brand manufactors diffrent bearings and use eachothers bearings to keep the production costs lower.
Another thing is that the wheel bearing kit is from skf it includes a oil seal a bearing and a nut. The kit is put together by skf and they use this nachi bearing to complete the kit.
This practice is very common mate. I recently bought new adl blueprint track rod ends and they're actually 555 ones made in japan!
