Evening All
Evening All
After spending my past 2 night shifts trawling through all the build threads (and working??) I figured its about time I introduced myself.
I've recently bought myself a Y reg IS200 with 131k on the clock for £450 which was too much of a bargain to ignore. The cars a bit rough around the edges but everything apart for an engine issue (more later) is in good nick.
The issues.
Emergency brake light stays on - fixed (previous owner put the brake light in upside down)
The Engine... Idled roughly , revs itself up to around 2k when warm, stalls itself every now and then, terrible fuel consumption, various codes most of which are pointing to the 02 sensors, though they look newly replaced. Current thinking is that there is a Vacuum Leak as it seems to fit the majority of the symptoms.
I'll get under it this weekend and have a good poke around.
Looking forward to getting involved with the Forum and providing my wallet allows, start modding. I'm fairly sure Jimbob will drag me to some shows later this year as well.
Thanks
(I'll get some photos this weekend)
Welcome mate!
What codes have you got?
Thanks Stav! Spent all night yesterday reading your build thread, hell of a car you've got.
Bank 1 sensor 1 and bank 2 sensor 1 slow to respond
" " " " " " circuit malufuction
Bank 1 VVTI malfunction.
We cleared the codes and it ran fine for about 15 miles before it came back on again. But I was on my way home so I'm not sure what codes have re appeared.
Saturday I'll get them read again and see what's re occurred
So sounds like an o2 sensor and maybe your vvti valve.
The sensor may need replacing or the wires have got hot. Does it have an aftermarket manifold?
Vvti could be the filter blocked you could look at that forst
The manifold is standard, O2 sensors look like they've been freshly replaced.
I'll have a proper dig around tomorrow and update this or make a project thread.
Riiiiight,
So, got it home and checked the codes again. Only 1 this time p1349.
Checked the ocv filter and sure enough it was caked in gunk, cleaned it all out replaced the oil, took it for a drive driving brilliantly for a good 20 minutes then it starts acting up again with the same code.
A little annoyed is an understatement.
I've had to throw in the towel for the day as I've been up for 25 hours or so and I'm starting to lag mentally I could really do with a plan as to how to tackle this tomorrow. What to check how to check etc, I'm in a fortunate position at the moment where I don't need the car for work but that will be changing in the next few weeks.
If there are any nicely detailed threads with lovely pictures and concise instructions on how to do what I need to do please point me in their direction l would really appreciate it.
On the plus side. The 15 minutes she worked were glorious, the car is fantastic and I can see why you all love them so much.
Help.... And send Chinese food.
Ta
Have you checked the vvti solenoid is opening fully?
