i went to the point where my astra ran out of petrol and had to get my bro get me some

now i know when the indicator comes on, i got plenty of miles, but when it starts to flash i got about 15 miles to go

i went to the point where my astra ran out of petrol and had to get my bro get me some

now i know when the indicator comes on, i got plenty of miles, but when it starts to flash i got about 15 miles to go

I'm playing a similar game with my front tyres, i'm seeing how low I can get the tread on them before I end up in a field:tongue_smilie:

40mm Lowering Springs, Re-sprayed Front, 6000K HID's, Re-furbed alloys, Bandit Induction Kit (cheers Chris), Raised boot spoiler with LED, Blue calipers with silver decals, De-badged rear, Chrome Oil Filler Cap (thanks to Chris again), White LED dash bulbs, Blue a/c control bulbs, Blue door markers and interior lights, Sony head unit, Chrome Lexus tax disc holder, TRD side skirts, Original Saloon Front Bumper re-fitted instead of Sportcross

My Zed was really weird for this, as soon as the light came on i had exactly 20 miles before the imobilizer came on and stalled the car but then it would carry on after that until the tank ran dry

My low fuel indicator light no longer works because of the "Special" way Lexus wire the dash together so I have to guess when the light should be on and then guess how far to go from there............... Its fun!!

No "Special" dash wiring.

A very well known problem with the Lexus IS200, the ECU "counts" how many times injector 1 fires and under what load, then adjusts the fuel level accordingly whilst you are driving supposedly eliminating false fuel readings, every 1/4 tank or so it uses the fuel level sensor to double check the level and adjusts it if necessary. When it detects a problem it goes into "error" mode and the fuel light either stays on all the time or continually flashes to tell the driver there is an "issue" with the fuel gauge, or fuel system.

Of course I don't use the OEM ECU so it isn't getting a reading from injector 1 and thinks there is a permanent problem with the fuel gauge - therefore the light stays on all the time, well it would if it was still connected:lol:.

My car now has a fuel gauge that is perfectly accurate just doesn't have a "low fuel" light. Nothing to do with the "issues" with my conversion, in fact it is a result that TGT managed to find a way round this electrical issue because as we know many people with swaps haven't been so lucky and have dashboards that don't work properly. Look at that TTE built charged IS200 in New Zealand posted up the other day the fuel gauge doesn't work on that one.
