Every year I go to the Le Mans 24hr race. It's a trip which started as being a MK1 MR2 club trip, but it has now evolved somewhat! In the last 2 years we've had a Lotus Esprit, Noble M400, VXR220 and the obligatory 10+ MR2s as well as various other sports car enthusiasts tagging along.

We make a week of it and stay at a chateau around 15 miles outside of the circuit (on-site camping gets pretty horrible by the end of the weekend). The chateau's speciality is car owners clubs so in previous years we've been parked up next to collections of Astons, Ultimas, vintage Porsches, etc etc. We also meet up with members of the French & Belgian MR2 owners clubs.

Wednesday and Thursday are taken up by qualifying sessions (day & night) as well as pit walks etc. You can also check out the quite frankly amazing museum. Friday lunchtime on the Mulsanne straight is not to be missed as it hosts "Mad Friday", which is basically a massive impromptu car show from all the people visiting for the weekend. Friday evening the chateau plays host to a car show incorporating cars from the campsite, and then you have Saturday & Sunday to take in the amazing race itself. This weekend is where most of my photos in the 'Guess the car' thread have come from Smile

The chateau has great facilities, decent showers and toilets, bar, etc etc. So it's a chilled-out week of camping in the French sunshine with plenty of beers, some gorgeous cars and like-minded enthusiasts! And there happens to be some motorsport too Smile

Tickets are now available for the race itself so now's the time to get ones **** in gear and organise ferry bookings etc. Anyone interested?

Sounds like he might be lol

Dates of the race are 12th-13th of June 2010, so we'd be going over on the 7th and coming back on the 14th. I know at least one group are continuing on for a trip to Paris afterwards. I'll be using LDLines (formerly SpeedFerries) for the crossing to Bologne. Previous years we've stayed in a hotel in Maidstone the night of the 7th and then crossed to France on the morning of the 8th but I doubt we're doing that this year as the hotel f**ked us around this year.

Quote:Definitely one of the main highlights was a Black Ops mission laid up against the barriers before the Porsche Curves - super dangerous but soooo good.
