Do you think it's worth getting a 1.25 Zetec with slightly higher mileage (e.g. 100K) than a lower-mileage 1.3, for the same sort of price ?

Steve the zetec is a better engine and is more sort after but it depends down to the way it has been looked after, like any car.
The zetec do cost on the sort of value you are looking at £100 to £200 more
Agood R,S,T,V reg will cost around £700 to £1100
But in six month your still get the same return for your outlay....

No pics, but this one sounds interesting for £995, very low mileage. Not sure about the "minor marks from car park" though, depends if they really are "minor" !

I'm struggling now with the issue of insuring a temporary car. My insurance company will only let me add a second car to my policy for 28 days, which I think is pretty common.

Whilst I hope my car will be back from the garage in less time than that, I can't be 100% sure. Plus also I need to have the temporary car insured in advance of my car going in.

I found a site on the Internet offering monthly temporary car insurance, but the quote was quite frankly totally ridiculous.

Should I just change my current insurance so that it's insuring the temporary car whilst my other car is in the garage, and then switch it back again when it's out ? Or is that leaving me open to problems if some sort of disaster should occur when my car is in the garage (though shouldn't the garage's insurance cover that ?).

Am I missing another solution ?

I had this very issue with the hire car from TGT.

The only "legal" way around was to cancel the insurance on the IS200 and insure the hire car. Whilst your car is in the care of a garage it should be under their insurance anyway, but definitely worth double checking should "the worst" happen.

If your going to cancel your IS insurance and then insure your run about you'll have to pay a deposit and then another one when you re-insure the IS may not be much of a deposit but it's still more money to outlay, can't you get someone else to insure the Fiesta or whatever you get and name you as a main driver? that way only one deposit.

40mm Lowering Springs, Re-sprayed Front, 6000K HID's, Re-furbed alloys, Bandit Induction Kit (cheers Chris), Raised boot spoiler with LED, Blue calipers with silver decals, De-badged rear, Chrome Oil Filler Cap (thanks to Chris again), White LED dash bulbs, Blue a/c control bulbs, Blue door markers and interior lights, Sony head unit, Chrome Lexus tax disc holder, TRD side skirts, Original Saloon Front Bumper re-fitted instead of Sportcross

It wouldn't be cancelling it though, it would be like a change of car - i.e. keep my policy but change it from my IS to the temporary car, then change it back again when my car comes back out.

I checked with Charlesworth and they confirmed that my car would be fully covered whilst they have it (which I kind of expected, but wanted to double-check), so I'll speak to my insurers about it now.

Stav - yeah, that's kinda the deal that I was hoping for.

No charge from SKY insurance, when I swapped the cars over, only a lot of being messed about.
