exhaust manifold
hi all im new here, i'll say hi in the newbie bit in a mo. just had a few questions really, mostly turbo or supercharged related. im just wondering what boost the is200 can handle without changing the internals? what choice is there when it come to turbo manifolds? lastly, does anyone have any pics at all of the standard manifold with the heatshields off? thanks, mikey.
cool, i'll have a look see what i can find. loads of problems with turbos, hopefully some of them can share what happened.
Check these thread for advice Mikey

You should find some good info in these threads.
Super charging is not a problem on the is200 with out changing any internals.
It's more a question of overall bhp of what the standard internals can handle, as opposed to purely boost. But the trouble is, no-one is really sure. Certainly people have had internals fail in the past, but sometimes the cause hasn't been 100% clear. Those threads that Lexusboy gave links for might give you some useful info.
SPC Horsham are currently running a project to see just how far they can push the standard internals before they blow up.
What's almost for certain is that the standard internals can handle 250 bhp. Whether they can handle much more for a prolonged period is what's being tried out at the moment.
For turbo manifolds there are two choices that I am aware of. SPC Horsham's own manifold (actually from IK Engineering). That's the one I've got. Or the cast manifold which Sam B has on his car, which comes from the US (the manifold, that is).
There's a pic of the OEM manifold (well, a polished-up one !) here.
ive read through a few of the thread, deffo some food for thought, some good and interesting stuff. im looking at getting a custom manifold made up depending on the prices of manifolds and using a tdo4/5 turbo. just looking for some advice on what the engine can handle/set ups people have used etc
