kam05 Davros- is your car modified or standard? I'd like to know what a 7/8/9 year old standard IS200 is now putting out in terms of bhp

Yes it’s standard, and was serviced almost a year ago with 2 track days inbetween...So it will be interesting to see if the old girl makes it’s factory figures. Confusedcared:

steviewevie Davros and kam, have a look in the Garage, the dyno graph for my 10-year-old IS200 is in there. I got 153.9 bhp, which I was pretty impresssed with. Just a K&N filter and IK20 spark plugs compared to stock.

I knew you had done a rolling road, but couldn’t remember what figure you got.

Cheers for the reminder :thumbup1:

I'll get a chart up tomorrow....if its any good :tongue_smilie:

Isn't it 136ish at the wheels tho? if so where does the 17ish HP go?

40mm Lowering Springs, Re-sprayed Front, 6000K HID's, Re-furbed alloys, Bandit Induction Kit (cheers Chris), Raised boot spoiler with LED, Blue calipers with silver decals, De-badged rear, Chrome Oil Filler Cap (thanks to Chris again), White LED dash bulbs, Blue a/c control bulbs, Blue door markers and interior lights, Sony head unit, Chrome Lexus tax disc holder, TRD side skirts, Original Saloon Front Bumper re-fitted instead of Sportcross

you always have loses between the fly and wheel.

cogs in the gearbox, diff etc lose power through there

So does the dyno figure only show how much HP s at the flywheel or can it show how much is being transfered to the road?

these figures are a general guide for working each out:

Quote:FWD cars - add 10 bhp to the wheel figure and divide the result by 0.9

RWD cars - add 10 bhp to the wheel figure and divide the result by 0.88

4WD cars - add 10bhp to the wheel figure and divide the result by 0.84

To estimate the expected wheel bhp from a known flywheel bhp just reverse the equations

FWD - multiply flywheel power by 0.9 and then deduct a further 10 bhp

RWD - multiply flywheel power by 0.88 and then deduct a further 10 bhp

4WD - multiply flywheel power by 0.84 and then deduct a further 10 bhp

so the Lex works out:

153 x 0.88 = 134.64 - 10 = 124.64

Andy-R. So does the dyno figure only show how much HP s at the flywheel or can it show how much is being transfered to the road?

depends on the dyno.

a dyno can only really show a true figure of the bhp at the wheels.
to find the true figure at the fly you'd have to take the engine out and measure it at the fly.

but some rolling roads claim to be able to measure the friction of the rundown (when you let off the throttle) to work out the loses.
and some just use pre built equations like the ones above to work it out.

Really everyone should only work on Wheel HP figures as thats what you can properly measure, but the fly HP is bigger so everyone claims them.
