With the Citi card almost dead, I need a replacement, where have all the cashback cards gone? There's an amex that pays 5% for the first 3 months (which I might get just for that initial period) but beyond that the spending limits are too high to be worthwhile for me. The other problem is that amex is often not accepted, so can be a pain in the a$$.

Egg Money pays 1%, but with a £1 monthly fee, that only really works out to 0.5% which is the same as the Bank of Ireland card.

And there are no others! Have I missed any cards that are out there?

AMEX is the most expensive card for retailers to accept it costs me 3% of the transaction value to take AMEX thats why it is not widely available. All Bank Of Scotland POS machines take AMEX because it is part of the terminal rental agreement but retailers just say they don't take it!!

Have you looked at the Capital One range of CC's?

I got a Capital One cashback CC 2 years ago (I was a Barclaycard customer). The deal I got with Cap 1 was 5% cashback on all purchases made in the first 3 months, then it fell to 1% thereafter.

As you know, the cashback CC have a high APR, therefore only get a cashback CC if you intend to pay the balance off in full at the end of the month.

Last year I earned £400 in cashback (I put everthing I can on my CC, even my work expenses)- I bought a LCD for the bedroom with my cashback- so cashback CC's work for me.

Check out moneysavingexpert.com for the latest credit card offers.

2tongues All Bank Of Scotland POS machines take AMEX because it is part of the terminal rental agreement but retailers just say they don't take it!!
That's interesting info there, I knew it cost the seller more, but didn't realise that they could all technically accept it anyway.........have amex ever fought to stop retailers from refusing to accept it then as it seems like the logical next step?

Yeah I looked on all the comparison sites, and the ones I listed above are the only ones around at the mo...........
