hock: , I removed them and it's all working again now !Never had any malware or viruses on my own PC before (though helped plenty of other people out with similar problems), so as I said it never even occurred to me that it would be the problem.

No probs, glad you got it sorted - I'm actually impressed that IE was blocking whatever that spyware was trying to do

29-10-2016, 01:11 PM #16It's not ok any more though. It wasn't just IE, I got to the stage where IE wouldn't start up, but then even Firefox was crashing regularly. Reverted to IE 7 *and* uninstalled several MS monthly fixes that I've recently put on (which I am now starting to suspect as being the main problem), and at least it's working right now.

Can't rate ESET smart security enough.

Can't rate ESET smart security enough.
