Can anyone recommend a good camera, would like it as discreet as possible.

However I am sure you will be able to find a better price, I paid about £50 18 months ago. Although it doesn't have "night vision" reverse lights are more than adequate for it to work at night without a problem.

On paper, compared to other rear view cameras it needs a lot of light, but along with that comes a great advantage. Because the aperture is so high the focal lenght is super long and it gives you a nice and sharp image.
Also, it is of course mirrored horizontally and vertically, just like a factory fitted one. On top of that it's got these diagonal lines that help you estimate the distance to different objects behind you.
I've found a somewhat strange thing about it, though. At its specified 12V the image is pretty wierd and shaky and the colors are really dull. However, at 6V it's perfect. This means you cannot simply use any 12V source from your car, but you have to take the voltage down to 6V. This is of course not hard at all if you are familiar with electronics.
I might be able to snap a few pictures for you tomorrow, if I go to the garage.

19-11-2016, 07:37 AM #7Wish I had a picture of my install - it is the same as DJ Wozzas and i think Stavs, it is hidden in the plastic trim above the numberplate, unless you really look you can't see it.

I've got a rear view camera in my car in place of the rear lock. It's not wired up at the moment but it was once... it's just an £18 CCD unit from Maplin that I wired up myself. I was using an aftermarket headunit which had a specific input for reversing cameras which it switched to when you put the car in reverse (linked to gearbox switch that turns on reversing lights) and it did the mirroring/flipping of the image itself.
