What do you guys think, the Lex has been struggling to start from cold (fine when hot) and then today the engine light came on. I thought i heard a misfire but it seems to be fine now although still engine light on.

Does the light come on for a coil pack? or any other ideas.

Cheers

Lights usually come on for coil packs yeah, there's an OBD code for random/multiple misfire which a failing coilpack can trigger. Have you got an OBD code reader handy?

You really need to get the code read. Do you know anyone nearby who you might be able to borrow a reader from ?

Or you can buy one, an easy to use handheld one is only £30-£40 and you can make that money back on 2 trips to a garage to troubleshoot an engine warning light!

That's good, handy to know people who still understand what being helpful means! Heard plenty of stories of people being charged for reading fault codes, even on cars like mine which you can read with a paperclip Smile

I bought one of these a few months ago, it's already made its cost back diagnosing faults on a 106 and a MK2 clio (my car doesn't have OBD2): http://www.talktoyourcar.co.uk/products/...nMS309.htm

Lets you remove the service indicator when you service your car yourself too Big Grin

Edit: BTW has this happened recently? Your coil pack could have a crack in it which has let in water / snow in the recent bad weather... that's what was wrong with the 106!

Thanks for the link and info, maybe a worthy investment too then anyhow, I know Subaru charged my Dad £70 to read his fault!! It is good to know someone who will just help out here and there and i trust him too and he's always pretty good Smile

It started to struggle about a no more than 2 months ago, but then I put it down to a loose positive on the battery and it was okay for a bit then it started struggling again then it did struggle this morning and this afternoon the engine light came on. Sounds like it could be same as the 106!!

Well it would appear that the code showing is for an oxygen sensor, had the light turned off to see if it was a glitch, otherwise i can only imagine it'll be a genuine part. It could acccount for the stutter on start up as it maybe over or under fueling i guess.

What is the code exactly ? That should tell you which sensor is indicating a fault.

You're right toxo, the IS300 has 4 O2 sensors.
