I decided to try some different tyres this time. I went for the Yokohama C drives (after using the Eagle F1a's)- can't fault the Yoko's so far (only done 800 miles on them so far).

Mods:...WIM geometry setup & fine tune, K&N Air filter, Stainless steel A/C rings, Brodit phone kit, Stainless steel clock surround, B&M Shortshifter & LED Domelight, Maplight & Sun Visors, OEM Chrome exhaust tip, OEM rubber bootliner, Fan type windscreen washer jets, LS430 Side repeaters, OEM LE grille, OEM cargo net, Front OEM armrest
I'd go with the usual suspects for the IS200- Eagle F1a's, Falken FK452, Toyo T1R's etc.

Marsdendean Just to bump an old thread.
What tyres do people recommend apart from the Falkens?? Going to get to Tony for a geo check, as well as possibly getting the two falkens off the fronts if i have the money.
What do people recommend?
Verdestein Ultra Sessanta. I have had the falkens and they are good, but I think these are even better - especially in the wet. :thumbup1:
I am thinking of getting a set for the Evo too!

Verdestein Ultra Sessanta. I have had the falkens and they are good, but I think these are even better - especially in the wet. :thumbup1:

How are they in the cold? I've pretty much concluded now that my problems with F1As are all temperature related. When the ambient was around 2C, it was like driving on glass, now we've moved up to 8C feels like a completely different car. I've still got grip problems but nowhere near as bad as they were.
Now if I'm right, as soon as the temp gets into double digits and higher my grip levels should be back to normal. I will keep an eye on it and let everyone know, but if that is the case they can't really be recommended for a climate like ours.

Personal opinion is that for the money the Falkens are unbeatable. They're quite a hard compound so not the quietest of tyre but this does make them last longer (which is a blessing when you have a power hungry RWD motor) and once worn in the grip is awesome. They're not without their faults of course but you get what you pay for. I don't use anything else on my car but I am considering trying out the Marangoni range shortly. :thumbup1:

+1, 1st crash I had was in the wet on F1's (admittedly the older than GSD3 model) and they offered very little grip.

That's what they've clearly fixed with the asymmetrics, the grip in the wet is unbelievable, and I'm not exaggerating, they really are that good.
But it appears that somehow it has made them quite sensitive to temperature.
