Dot 5.1 brake fluid
Dot 5.1 brake fluid
Ok I'm wanting to upgrade my brake fluid to 5.1
What kind should I get, I mean would the stuff you get from ebay be ok or is there a specific make/ brand I should buy and how much should I buy ??
Also when doing the upgraded brake lines do you also need to do the rears , I've only got ones for the front so would it make much difference.
Just trying to get some of the jobs on my list done because its been a long time since I've done anything to the car hock:hock:
Any dot 5.1 fluid will be fine, but you will need to make sure all the old fluid is out the system. Quantity wise, a full system will probably only take 0.5 to 1L, but you will need enough fluid to bleed the brakes as well.
By new lines im assuming that you mean braided hoses to replace the front rubber flexis? If so then its not necessary to do the backs as well, but if you can get hold of them it saves a job in the future.
Yes I do mean the braided hoses , but was not sure if I needed to get ones for the rear .
Oh well of to ebay
When I got DOT 5.1 fluid, the best price I could find was at Toyota !

I recommend and have used this in the S2000. Supposed to be better then DOT 5.1 for a road car because its not as suseptible to absorbing water.

Its actually more expensive then the DOT 5.1 stuff too lol
Ok think I might aswell give it a go and its from opie oils , so thats also a good thing :thumbup1:
