2010 F1 Thread
2010 F1 Thread
Seen this on other forums and wondered if we could have one, can it be pinned so it's always at the top of the board? Instead of all the different F1 threads might be easier to just have one with everything in it
Anyway, to get us started, I was surprised to read today that Lewis will no longer be managed by his dad - I kind of understand the reasons but seems odd to mess with a combination that's worked so well so far?
McLaren themselves are at the mo, I'm not sure if he's decided who's going to be his manager going forwards. Although seeing what they did with Raikkonen, he probably wouldn't do too badly to sign with the Robertsons, but read somewhere that Mika Hakkinen now has a management firm and that is a possibility given his close links to McLaren.
Think we should keep the F1 thread to a small bit at the last page of the site, so you really really have to look hard for it :lol:
I wonder if one thread is going to get a bit unwieldy though ? e.g. discussing multiple subjects all in one thread. Individual subjects can get missed. I'm really not sure, but we can give it a try.
Latest news on the new teams - US F1 have shut down, and are not going to be racing in F1 in 2010, but are hoping they can in 2011. So this would appear to give an opening to Stefan GP, who have been sitting on the sidelines.
Campos have changed their name, and are now Hispania (following various changes of ownership etc). They haven't tested at all though.
How can they (Hispania) seriously take part with NO testing - surly this will be a safety issue, or at the very least a team that will fail to qualify for the 1st few races?
Do they still have rule that the slowest qualifier must be with in a certain % of pole positions lap??
No they've abolished that rule, quite a few years ago actually so they could be 10 seconds off the pace and will still qualify - bit stupid them being there to be honest and sort of explains why Ferrari are so annoyed.
Shame about USF1 though, thought they'd get it together in the end but Stefan seems to be well backed and might even bring back Villeneuve which would be interesting.
Good point Steve, let's see how it goes - maybe if it does get messy we could just keep this one for after race discussion as the season progresses, and anything else can be separate
Yeah I think it's going to be pretty stupid, surely they can't just do no testing and take part ? It'll be a bit of a joke. Even Virgin and Lotus are pretty under-prepared and slow, at least they've been to some tests !
If Stefan GP do come in, then they won't have tested either. Though at least they're starting with a car already designed by Toyota, not totally from scratch.
The new team thing is in danger of turning into a farce, which I'm sure is exactly what Ferrari would love. Hope Lotus and Virgin can manage to get themselves near to the pace pretty quickly.
Stefan if they make it does have a lot of the Brawn story about it doesn't it - big Japanese manufacturer pulls out, new start up gains lastminute entry and old hand wins the title.
Replace Brawn with Stefan, and Villeneuve with Button and it'll be 2009 all over again! Can't see it happening but what a story if it did
Villeneuve needs to go on a diet 1st............
The FIA have just announced the final entry list for the new (2010) season. No US F1, but no Stefan GP either.
