I wouldn't have got it sorted without that number that Saraj posted, all I could find was the ability to email them, and I did that and still haven't had a reply (they say it can take 24-72 hours !).
Once they pointed me at that live chat thing though, they were very very helpful, and very polite. Pretty sure it was American given how customer-friendly they were etc (and because the name of the guy helping me was Chuck :lol: )
atleast we all know now theres a live chat !
The Live Chat thing is there I think to help with identity theft/security type issues, not just for any eBay query. But I guess these are the kind of things where you might indeed want urgent help.
If you go to this link, then scroll down, there's a link to "Live Chat" towards the bottom. It's a pop-up, so make sure that doesn't just get blocked by your web browser.
eBay quite often move links around etc, so if that doesn't work, then try searching in the "Help" section for "Live Chat".
It asks you some questions like your account name and various details, then it puts you in a queue to talk to someone. I only had to wait about 30 seconds to connect, no idea if this is typical or not.
