completely random q but is there any benefit in going with 2 smaller twins something like a GT2035 over a larger single? Always wondered this on the mkiv supra's as you see very few with upgraded twins, maybe due to cost involved or is it more of a mechanical/tuning issue?

yeah o think the main issues is the logistics of it, and possibly the price as well as two smaller decent turbos would cost more than one decent big one.

true always something i've wondered Big Grin I know Mines R34 Time attack car has two GT2035's and the "claim" that it gives better response which to a point I can understand however I think the twin-tubbies work differently on the RB26.

I know with the 2JZ-GTE the twins spool 1 after the other as opposed to both at the same time, is this a similar thing on the 1G-GTE?

Ah the 2JZ system sequential sytem, very complex, and VERY prone to breaking.

It works using liitle air valves and signals from the ECU

The 1GGTE is just a simple parallel spool system, both turbos all the time.

I've not seen the plumbing system for twins on the 2JZ but I've seen it on the RX7 and it's mental

ahh ok Smile

probably explains why most go for a single over 2 twins on the supra, think i've seen a couple with big twins but they are serious show cars

Sparkystav the engine, from what ive read is fairly capable at that power so rebuild shouldnt (touch wood) be needed.

Should only start to become a problem once you approach 500bhp on those engines, I think ? Is that about right ?

IS200 Turbo project now just about complete ! See my thread here and leave your comments.
Now running standalone Syvecs ECU and no stock ECU !

yeah the more power the bigger the turbo you need (or more boost) either way theres more lag to full boost.

been doing some research into whats what yeah.

Personally I would go for a set up thats plenty of power just before the dreaded lag takes an unreasonable hit on the driving pleasure.
