You know what? I'm seriously considering replacing my IS200 with a CLS320CDI in the new year...or a BMW 535d Sport.
Replacement car has to be a diesel- doing too many miles otherwise I would be looking at a petrol Lexus (GS300 or GS430).

I do like the GS450h and I did test drive a new one recently, but I'll be keeping the car for 5 years or more and I would be buying a used GS450h, so what I want to know is how reliable is the hybrid system- guess what I am asking is would the hybrid system on the GS be still working when the car is 10 or 12 years old?
I do tend to buy a car at 3-5 years old and get rid when they are 10 + years old.

Problem with merc & BMW, everything is added on, and added on. Electric seats = extra, mats = extra, room to breath=extra, good think with the lexus, you only can add on certain things like active cruise control, paint, otherwise its an S,SE,SE-L or sport
It's a problem when you buy lower end models like the C class and 3 series, but not so much with the higher end models as most buyers tend to spec these up with at least the basics. It's hard to find a higher end Merc that doesn't have leather, comand, electric seats, etc as people don't want a car like that without that stuff.
