Your need to find out if the car is going to be put through a SVA (Single Vehicle Approval) first...

2tongues thats a kind of NASTY ultra MOT is it not?

Sort of yeah.

Have a look here Chris, I think it covers it all:

http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/Buy...DG_4022583

Basically, it has to be converted to UK road spec (which is usually just adding a rear foglight for Japanese vehicles but can require such odd things as replacing the fuel intake and changing the frequency of the remote central locking) then go through a VOSA test (although which test varies on the age of the car). Then providing you've got all the paperwork in order (official export sheet + translation etc) you send it all off to the DVLA and wait for a bit and they send you back a V5 and a certificate saying you're allowed to purchase new numberplates for it.

Chri5 I would get them to sort out every thing for you rather than worry about doing this yourself it would be a little different if you had done this before.

What grade is the car Chri5 this can be found on the Japanese auction sheet?

If it's already got 12 months test it's already been SVA'd and approved so it's only the last bit that needs doing. TBH it's probably worth £250 just to get them to do it for you.
