Mazda Prepares Turbocharged Rotary Successor For RX-7
The Japanese will built a successor for Mazda RX-7 that is rumored to debut in 2013. The model will benefit from a turbocharged rotary engine and might be called RX-9. This announcement comes in the production weeks of the RX-8, a model that might not be sold in 2012 because of the Euro5 regulations applied in Europe, regulations that the Japanese automaker can’t follow without serious engine modifications. The Mazda engineers are testing different engine versions in order to keep up with the powerful rivals in the segment.
Sounds interesting, so is this a replacement for the RX-8 or will they still have the RX-8 and the RX-9 will be an additional more powerful model?
