The Japanese will built a successor for Mazda RX-7 that is rumored to debut in 2013. The model will benefit from a turbocharged rotary engine and might be called RX-9. This announcement comes in the production weeks of the RX-8, a model that might not be sold in 2012 because of the Euro5 regulations applied in Europe, regulations that the Japanese automaker can’t follow without serious engine modifications. The Mazda engineers are testing different engine versions in order to keep up with the powerful rivals in the segment.

Sounds interesting, so is this a replacement for the RX-8 or will they still have the RX-8 and the RX-9 will be an additional more powerful model?

Marsdendean I thought the RX8 had gone?? Shame really, as it is a good looking car!!

Great handling car, cracking interior as well, just a shame it was lacking on the performance front, was the only reason I got rid of mine Sad

the 231 model revs to 9k but unless you keep the revs waaaay up then you are just as well driving a 1.1 Fiesta Sad

You are looking more at 6.5 -7 secs in the real world.
