Quick question. Just got hold of some TTE GT1 alloys which are dark grey/gun metal/anthracite ish in colour. Now obviously my silver nuts are going to stand out like a sore thumb. Had a look around Ebay and the net in general + asking halfords and my local motor factors and they have all turned up nothing but dark alloys and "no only silver wheel nuts.." response.

So......I was wondering what others have done for their dark wheels?

cheers,

Ed

You can get black wheel nuts. I've bought some for my wheels. I can give you some links if you're interested. Not cheap though.

Also depends on what sort of seat for the nuts are needed for your wheels. My new wheels need cone-seated nuts, so I ordered these ones from eBay.

I also bought some black locking wheel nuts from McGard. Ultralite do some locking wheel nuts but they don't seem very secure to me.

lol yeah I had seen those and kept moving. They do look nice though. Ok: so even though I have TTE wheels - the standard nuts will not work temporarily then?

Dunno. My TTE Chicanes have a cone seat rather than the flat seat used on the OEM wheels. And the holes are very narrow too, so that's why I got some "tuner"-style nuts, and those ones have "internal drive" too, so basically there should be no risk of damaging the wheels with a wheel nut socket.

The type of seat for the nuts depends on your wheels. Have a look at the mounting hole, and see how similar (or not) it is to the OEM wheels.

right well i've bought some "kei racing" black nuts off ebay. £29 delivered - so hopefully they'll do the job nicely.

Ok so fitted the new wheels last night so thought i'd post some piccys of the new nuts and of course the car with the wheels on Big Grin :

The nuts look very small - they seem fine but i hope theyre ok. Just need to get some locking nuts really now - but these nuts will be ok for a bit as they need a special, but pretty generic, key to get them off.
