This is my first post here so i want to say a hello to everyone!

Forgive my bad english...

I had my is200 over 2 years with an aftermarket exhaust (catalyst, rear and middle silencer) but i never liked the sound.

It had too bass tone and was more loud than i would like. The silk sound of the inline 6 engine was all covered and i wanted a more destinguished sound for my car.

So one weekend me and my brother began to build our own exhaust.
Basically we didn't expect the result to be satisfying but we wanted to try.

Here we go:

We had some stainless steel tubes about the same diameter as the stock pipes on car.
First thing to make the piece inside the muffler perforated:

Next to make the body of the muffler out of a stainless steel sheet that i bought:

We used stainless steel wire mesh around the perforated tube and then fiberglass

Muffler closed and tested the position that it will sit under the car

Then we cut the pipe behind the old muffler and tested the new one to see about what kind of sound we ve got..

The results was not very good. There was a lot of sound reduce but low frequencies were still too much.

So we decided to go the way the HKS silent went.
This muffler uses an separate enclosure as a resonator for the low frequencies.

So, here it is

After testing on car, i have to say that i was very suprized!
The car run very quiet. Almost as stock!
That extra resonator does A LOT of work at cutting down the low frequencies!

So we decided to remove the middle box and see what happens:

And the result was... exactly as i wanted !!
Sound seemed balanced between the engine and muffler.
Of course we had to test it later on road with some load on the engine to see exactly what we had.

Next step to make a nice muffler tip.

Then some testing on the car and final welding:

A little polishing to give a decent look

And testing on road!

Have to say i am 100% happy with the result.
I don't know how much before the fiberglass begin to fade, but after a year or two i can replace it.
It cost me about 40 pounds and a lot of work.

Please allow me to say from here a big thank you to my brother that did most of the work!

Thank you all for your kind comments..!

Other things i ve done is a car pc installation.
I got from australia a used oem screen case and i put inside a 7" lcd touchscreen.
So i have video - music - tv - obd data - gps navigation - wifi - etc in my car.

Also when i got this car, the dashboard had a lot of scratches.
I took it out, sand it, paint it and reinstall it. That was a lot of work also...

But the result was very satisfactory

oh yes. i also did the boot mode, that opens fully by it self, the fog-brake-tail lights mod and painted my calipers black with lexus decals

I really love this car!!

here is another photo of it that i like:

My next mod is to make a short shift.
I know i can do it well, but there is always the possibility something to go wrong..

So, is anyone here, that have a spare oem shift lever to sell?
