i am in the middle of choosing a new car and have looked at several but i am now being swayed towards the rx-8
does anybody know anything about them???
how well do they go
servicing/running costs
do they drift well???
although 4 seater can you fit ppl in the back???

i am also looking at skylines but tbh dont think i can afford the runniing costs atm which is a bummer but c'est la vie lol

high oil???
is this a problem or just how they are???
i thought the rx7 was low mpg???

just done a quick review and although i am looking at the 231 ps it seems to be down on torque (211nm at 5500 rpm)

most things you read about the rx8 are plain BS, internet hearsay!

Buy a 231, make sure all recall work has been completed, ECU upgrades and so on.

Service History, I wouldn't touch one without it.

Oil usage, no worse than a Honda S2000, 1ltr every 2-3k for me.

Stunning handling, great interior but nothing happens till you get up close to that 9k limit, if you don't mind driving at the top of the revs all the time, good car, if you don't forget it as the car feels very slow otherwise.

MPG, averaging about 20 -23 combined.

231ps version revs to 9k - 6 speed box.

192ps is 5 speed, think it goes to 7k

And don't be disappointed when it's slower than your Lexus was.

Had mine for just over a year now and love it. Fantastic handling and as said above oil consumption bit of a myth, just check it regular, does use a bit more that a "normal" car but nothing OTT. As Stav says mpg not too great but when you are reving the a**e of it, which you can, who can complain. Only problem I had was water coolant light kept coming on, sensor problem no effect on performance. I have the 231 PZ version, go find one to test drive

Cheers

Had that develop just when I sold mine, £230 for a new tank fitted, as you prob know, can't just change the sensor
