i have done the route a few times and not much difference either way.... its best to just stick to the autoroute TBH, quiet and quick. the section around paris you need to check depending on your time, but its not too bad.

when going on the autobahn dont wildy believe its unrestricted... watch for the 120/130 kmh signs. But there is a section before the basel border that is unrestricted so enjoy.
