Can see both sides but IMHO you buy a torque wrench to make sure that you are applying the correct torque! I would not have the confidence in a cheap one because I would not be sure it was accurate. You may as well use the old "that should do it" technique, just my 2p worth.

Halfords Professional are great for home use IMO plus if you break it they replace it free, never had to try that out though.

I got THIS ONE and at £80 I am happy to pay £60 more for peace of mind! That works out at a small £3 more per nut for a set of wheels done once. Worth getting a DEEP 21mm socket as well for wheel nuts, keeps the wrench clear of the bodywork, extensions are a PIA on torque wrenches!

Also range on this wrench will do for stuff like crank pulleys etc and comes with a calibration cert.

Thanks for the info Neil, much appreciated, dive really want to spend that much either so will go with the sealey u posted earlier, it's certified and is a decent brand and price, will defo take the advice on the deep socket and get me one of those:thumbup:
