I have a bit of a dilema....I need to return some brake discs that didn't fit, but I've painted them with caliper paint *DOH*

So, does anyone know a good paint stripper that will get caliper paint off without damaging the discs?

I think Nitromors is supposed to be good stuff, that was what people always used to strip paint off bike frames when I did downhill riding.

Nitromors used to be good stuff, until it got censored by the ROHS mob. Now it's just watered down fairy liquid

I looked it up earlier to check the spelling actually, and it does say they've changed the formula...

But what it does say is that it won't start bubbling the paint as fast, but that it will stay 'active' on the surface longer and also it takes on average 2-3 less applications than the old stuff to get down to a bare surface.

Never read any of that, all I can say is using the original stuff ten years ago compared to using it nowadays, is like night and day.

I think that's the way with a lot of stuff these days, anything that's good at it's job is either dangerous or bad for the environment now. lol

If it's new calliper paint (Less than 3 or 4 days maximum since painting) and hasn't been subjected to any major heating, you should be able to get shot of it with half a litre of cellulose thinners and a paint brush.

Scotty B.

Air filter by K+N, Exhaust by Japspeed, Brakes by Mintex......... And a scuffed rear arch by my sister. Huh
