Not sure if anyone can help me or if I should just bite the bullet and head down to a dealer.

Basically, I cant set my alarm off. Its the standard Nissan one.
I was reading through the stuff that came with the car (finally) and in the Nissan anti-theft system book it mentions if you lock the car and there is something that should set the alarm, a buzzer should sound while the car is in pre-arm state (lasts 10 seconds after locking).

To quote the book itself:
Quote:"When armed, the system will automatically enter pre-arm mode. If an alarm trigger is received during this time, the alarm does not activate the siren and blinker command but only gives and acoustic warning signal by the buzzer with a continues sound until the cause is removed or the system moves into full arm mode. In the second case, the input triggered will be excluded during the Arm mode."

Note: Ultrasonic sensor and self powered siren (tamper alarm) are not signalled during pre-arm time.
At the end of the pre-arm time (10 sec.) the system will enter in full arm mode"

Anyway I couldn't get the car to buzz so I rolled down the windows, locked the car, waited 60 seconds (just in case 10 seconds isnt long enough) then waved my hand in the open window, nothing. Tried to open the door, nothing. Flicked the locks then tried to open the door, it wouldn't open so super-lock works fine but no alarm. Pulled the bonnet release, and popped it open, still no alarm.

Any idea why I cant set it off? I checked the black box behind the spare wheel and its not disconnected. Admittedly I didnt follow the cables where it runs under the polystyrene. Super-lock works fine as does the remote, its just the alarm that doesn't seem to want to set.

It seems like it should be working fine as the little indicator LED flashes when it should (LOCK, OFF and ACC and goes off when the ignition is switched to on). Is it worth disconnecting the battery for a but to try and reset the system?

try sitting in the car and doing it,

alternatively, open the door and then hold the door switch in (the one that turns the interior light on/off, lock the car and after the set time release the door switch, that should set it off.

The buzzing noise comes from drivers side rear quarter I think as mine does it when ever I set the alarm lol admitidly it's an aftermarket alarm....

Depending on how confident you are I know of a walkthrough to install an aftermarket alarm for the 350z....

Drivers side rear quarter is kinda were the alarm siren/black box is.

Something like the alarm I wouldn't to mess with myself.
I would rather get the standard alarm sorted if I can but if its going to cost a bomb ill probably get an aftermarket one fitted.

And the alarm didn't go off?

That's worrying!

Nope Sad
Thinking I might take it to the dealer and see how much it would cost to fix.

Interestingly though I managed to make it beep by trying to lock the car with the key in the ignition.

That sounded like it was coming from the siren in the boot so I think it's powered...

Does anyone know which fuse controls the alarm?
Also which panel would it be on?
