I've just fitted a new thermostat on my is200 and all bled up fine , up to temp and fans came on.

When I'm out drivin the temp gauge drops down to quarter warm but when I park up it goes back to normal, but only half the rad is warm now, I've re-bled the system and still no trapped air.

I'm totally stumped now.

It's brand new as that was the issue before I changed it, it's not as bad but still an issue could it be the rad or rad cap?

Will I've changed the rad cap and it still the same, there has got to be a leak some where as I've had to top up the coolant so hope the replacement rad fixes the issue

Have you looked at the thermostat?
Cheaper than buying a rad

I've changed the stat it was the first thing I did mate, the rad is stained red from the coolant and the under tray looks wet all the time under the rad so I'm guessing it has a leak plus it gives me an excuse to put a alu rad on Smile

it sounds like thermostat but if the problem is the same after a change maybe the coolant is bypassing the thermostat some how? gasket or crack? leaking coolant shouldn't produce the 1/4 temperature reading when moving.
