Hi all, long time no post!

Finally getting round to trying to sort out the aftermarket sat nav install. Doing a test run with a cheap (actually owes me nothing) chinese 7" GPS, and if successful I'll get a newer model to have a reverse camera as well - pretty similar to the one mattlaw did. But first things first;

What pins/connections do I need to make (and where) to give the motorised housing power, and so the open/close and tilt buttons function normally? Do extra pins/connections need to be made so it auto opens/closes on ignition on/off, or does it do this on it's own?

Also, where do I tap into? I'd rather not tap into the head unit wiring if possible, so if I can run from somewhere else, that's not too hard to get to that would be great. I still want to retain use of the stock cig lighter, as I use that to charge my iPhone when my iPod is occupying the Grom, but I was thinking I could spur off that wiring to a female cig lighter behind the console, which I could use to power the GPS using the stock cig adapter? (save messing about with resisters to bring 12v down to 5v to provide power to the GPS)

I'm nearly done on the hardware side of it, just need to finalise the mounting brackets to hold the GPS in place securely, but also allow it to be easily removed a) to get to the flash card, b) to plug it into computer for whatever, and c) to change it to a different unit at some point. I'm rarely going to use the actual sat nav itself (although I could have really done with an offline map GPS a couple weeks ago when out in the middle of nowhere with no cellular signal!), so really we're just testing with this one to see if it all works out ok, then switch out to one with a reverse camera and maybe bluetooth for my phone (cos the Grom BTX adapters are hard to find!

Diagrams/pictures would be useful if you have them please!
