My boot won't pop at all!!
Hi, new guy here.
Recently bought a 2001 is200 SE which I love and this forum has been a life safer for sorting all the little niggles out so cheers.
My boot won't pop at all, when I pull the release below the driver seat the boot unlocks but won't raise or unlatch meaning I need someone else to pull it up as I hold the lever. I placed some pins between the torsion bars and mounts to add tension as suggested in another thread which didn't help fix the initial pop.
I've looked all over both here and on LOC but haven't really found an answer so any help would be great, thanks
Has the car been in a minor rear ender??
The larch or hook might be out of position causing the lock not to open?
Okay thanks, I did try moving the hook up but it just caused the lock to bounce off the hook and not latch at all. It hasn't got anything to suggest it's been moved and was working when first bought it so I've been investigating elsewhere. I'll have another play and report back haha, cheers!
I found a fix in the end, the cable from the unlock lever in the front had stretched and even though the boot was unlocking with force it was not unlocking fully. Only went about 3/4 of the way along the groove. If you take the tailgate carpet off and have a look it is all easily viewable and easy to access and shorten the wire to the front. Works fine now, thanks for the replies.
Glad you sorted it mate!
