Locked keys inside car - low battery
Just a quick word of warning which I didn't see covered by a search.
The iS200 had been parked for a few weeks and I found time to start fiddling last weekend. I wanted to fix the horn not working to get ready for MOT test.
I unlocked the car using the button on the keyfob, opened the door, left the key on the seat, opened the bonnet release, shut the door and turned to go the front of the car, at which pint I heard a "click". Trying the door again ...... it was locked with the key sat on the drivers seat - not ideal!
Luckily I was at home and had the spare key to hand, but it would not unlock on the button, only the key barrel in the door. More investigation revealed the battery to be at about 6 - 7 volts, so it seems I had just enough power to unlock the central locking at the start, but the voltage was so low that the controller locked the doors shortly after. Once I recharged the battery everything worked perfectly again.
I have read another thread on here about the current drain. So I'm now wondering if I could fit a battery master switch with a bypass feed to the security system only.

You can't really bypass everything but the security system, as the security is tied into everything.
If you've got a drain, have you added anything new recently?

You can't really bypass everything but the security system, as the security is tied into everything.
If you've got a drain, have you added anything new recently?

you can add an aftermarket security system, or wire in a by pass to drop the window from an external source should you have a failure ?
Just to update, I only bought the car recently, so still learning. But I have not fitted any accessories, and there are no non standard parts (that I know of) fitted. I'll do a bit more to nail down the source of the problem.
The idea of another security system is interesting, I can ponder this more.
