From another forum:

Quote:"Found this over on a BMW forum. It was on a closed-track trackday instead of the usual touristenfahrten. The impact happened at the fastest part of the circuit at the end of the longest straight between antoniusbuche and tiergarten. I'm guessing the M3 was doing in the region of 160mph. From what I've read he was an experienced ringer and unfortunately hit the back of the slower moving mini (that can be seen in the background of the pics) after coming over the blind crest. The driver of the M3 got away with only a broken arm!

Let this be a warning to anyone venturing there!"

And a video of the scene afterwards:

Some sort of day when you can go right down the straight from start to finish.

Really makes you think

Reinforces the need for proper safety at the 'ring (any place like it also). Driver got away lightly as his car is clearly built for crash protection. That roll cage was worth every penny probably saved a life there.

totally worn out and broken, shouting 'Holy ****, WHAT A RIDE!'"

Shame this sort of thing puts a damper on other looking to do this sort of thing.

Anyone doing this sort of thing must remember that your not insured to attend a race track on your normal car insurance.

Yeah, you'd be gutted if you wrecked your car and then insurance wouldn't pay out.
Just glad the guy is ok! Looks like a big off!

You can buy 'ring insurance.

That is a pretty scary end result, that's put me off visiting the ring even more now Sad

Gotta admit the vid just approaching the scene was quite scary too - there was no warning at all that there was all that just around the corner!
