Good news and bad...
Good news and bad...
Well I will start with the good news... I just got a promotion at work which I am pretty happy about but it is tinged with some regret since the new post means I might have to get rid of the lexus. At promoted level my Company has a policy of no car can be over 6 years old... and mine turned 6 last month.
Don't want to get rid of it since only had it a year and it is running great right now but can't see them changing policy even if I plead with them since it is not their fault - it is rules set by fleet management company.
Also don't think they will cover mods on insurance policy. I haven't had a chance to read the fine print yet but looks like I am faced with having to get something newer when I don't want to...
I know I am lucky to get the promotion and longer term it is all good news but right now I dont have cash to finance a decent newer car.. and not sure which way to go. Will be staying jap anyway that much I do know !
Anyway - will stop moaning and start looking around - and once I read the samll print of contract etc will start a for sale thread if needs must. Might also have to take the charger off ....
So is it your car???
If so then what job do you do???
Surely they would gave to be lenient as not everyone is in a position of buying newer cars.
nnooooooooooo dont do it!!!or get a second car?a cheap £99 per month car!!aygo yaris etc....
The car is mine but company pay me a set amount for supplying and using it for business use. I do have the choice of getting a company car but have been told it is more tax efficient to do it the way I do. Thing is with the promotion they now take over running costs which they don't cover just now ... which is why they insist on car being less than 6 years old since less maintenance costs for them.
Will need to read all the small print a.s.a.p but I don't have the contract details re car scheme etc yet - just going on what I do know about it. Dont think they would fall for the private plate trick.. but cheers anyway.
Hoping that they will be lenient for at least a few months till I sort out what to do. If I do have to sell and it doesn't sell as is - I might take the charger off for you Dean..
take them the bills for the last 3 years ie repairs, parts etc and show them your car costs less to maintain than a new car and explain you get a good deal on servicing etc at your local toyota garage and see what they say?
ormi take them the bills for the last 3 years ie repairs, parts etc and show them your car costs less to maintain than a new car and explain you get a good deal on servicing etc at your local toyota garage and see what they say?

Congratulations on the promotion mate. Shame about the issues with your car though. But perhaps it will turn into a good thing, nice to hear that you want to stay Jap, so perhaps you'll end up with something even better, and you'll be glad this happened ?
