LAst week i started a thread on another car forum entitled Remap v insurance, and the basic question was "can insurers tell if your car is remapped after an accident"................and i will be honest i did at one point say "i probably wont declare it"............which resulted in an argument and the thread being closed.

I send a PM apology to the moderator i was arguing with, and explained i understand the situation

I then opened a different thread, but around the same subject, BUT i clearly stated that it was a question, in no shape or form to ascertain if i can get away with it or not, and in no shape or form trying to continue the previous argument or undermine the moderators.

I had some really good responses, and detailed answers,........and at one point i even stated that it has changed my mind and i would definately declare a remap for peace of mind

...............then i received this

"Starting a thread with the words “I don’t want to cause an argument” in my opinion and experience usually means the thread will end in exactly that ! It wasn’t worded very differently from the first and was, I think, a quest to simply undermine the advice you had been given in the first thread. The thread was closed as it was going nowhere, you had been given the advice you asked for in the first thread and at the start of the second thread and yet again it seemed you wanted to court more controversy by bringing up the non deceleration of modifications.

The other threads which alerted us to your attitude were the ones where you admitted excessive speed, flashing an undercover police car at excessive speed and then doing donuts in a public car park – all actions that we cannot and will not condone on a public site. As said before none of us are whiter than white etc but not everyone thinks its appropriate or sensible to discuss these things on a forum.

After re-reading the first thread you were given sensible and great advice about your initial question and it was only when you stated about not telling the insurance that it descended so please don’t preach to me about how out of touch / stuck up we are on this forum.

On a personal note, I like most people on here, have to pay a high premium for my insurance because every single thing is declared on my car ( yes even down to smoked lights, interior changes etc etc) and anyone trying to cheat their way out of paying and therefore putting other road users at risk if they have an accident deserves every inch of ridicule they get.

I would seriously consider taking your own blunt advice “to be honest I cant be bothered to argue, if you don’t like what you read then sod off and don’t bother posting”

to which i replied............................................................

"Whilst i can accept most of that you seem to of missed the point of my second thread COMPLETELY

1) I stated that i did not want to cause an argument so the person who deleted the original thread didnt instantly assume i had re-opened it to continue arguing, or to try and get there back up

2) it was merely a quest for further knowledge, as i have previously said the advice i received turned my mind and made me decide it was best to declare a remap

2.1) i believe that is objective achieved?....no?

3) Wanting to know how something is done, or how something works is called be inquisitive (sp) i merely asked a question and yet certain moderators appear to have made it a **** witch hunt and completely ignored or the valid points, comments i and other users have made throughout that thread.

4) i understand not everything comes across as it is intended via a forum, but your seriously taking the **** now, if you cannot be mature enough to understand the perspective of a thread instead of getting on your high **** horse and deleting it or going off one why not start a private conversation with the person you may have an issue with and resolve it that way?

5) the original thread did incinuate (sp) fraudulent acts regarding insurance and i COMPLETLEY **** UNDERSTAND WHY THAT WAS DELETED, thats why i made every effor in my wording of the second thread to comprehensively state that it was not opened for any other reason that it being a question, if i cant ask a **** question to find out the truth how can i ever become wiser or smarter?

6) if any insurance company read that second thread they WOULD NOT OF BATTED AN EYELID because thye have more than half a **** brain cell, i reckon they would of replied to it with a sensible answer and hte information that i had asked for in the first place

Im done with this argument, my spelling and grammar may not be great, and i may only be 22 years old, but i certainly know how to handle a situation that you have mae a meal out of, like an adult is a good start and not some whiney **** five year old who cant get their own way,

moderators power trip? maybe
lack of commonsense? definately
will i be returning after this? probably not

Please close my account, i will go and disuss such motoring issues with more able minded people who log onto their computers to give and receive advice, not be a **** internet warrior"

am i missing something??? i would of linked the thread, but its been deleted mere seconds after i lost my rag and posted the pm's on it for all to see........

If that was on the club on which I'm a moderator you'd have got the same actions taken against you but the PM would have read a lot nicer Smile Are the other accusations he's made true (i.e. excessive speed, undercover car etc)? That's enough to get you booted off most car forums, they can't take the risk to be seen condoning illegal activities.

I been in arguments with mods before mate, they may seem like w4nk3rs at first, but in the long run, they really really can help you out, seriously mate, they are good people. Take my advice, and dont do anything stupid to get yourself in a position which you will not be able to get out of...

lol........out of conext, the "excessive speed" as on any forum was followed by the obligitory "on my private racetrack".........and it wasnt "that" excessive

the flashing of the cop car was wasnt excessive either, he wa ssat in the outside lane at bang on 70 and i pulled up behind between 80-85 and gave him a quick flash to ask him to move (he wasnt overtaking anything), he duely obliged, i cruised past, he pulled back out and stopped me

we had a few words, he noted that i wasnt driving excesively fast, or dangerously, or stupid................he just didnt like being flashed out the way :Fish:

^^ see those are wise words.........nothing like i received over there

as said its a shame i cant get the transcript for an even more honest opinion

We banned someone recently for discussing insurance fraud Smile Admittedly they were on their last chance already but like I said, clubs can't be seen to be advocating things like that. The club is responsible for what's posted on its site at the end of the day, regardless of what any T&Cs say about things being your own responsibility.

I can absolutely see why both your threads were removed.

Further to that, seeing as I can't edit my posts, it's pretty much understood that when moderators remove a thread for what they deem to be unsuitable / illegal content, that starting another thread up straight away to continue the discussion is sticking a finger up to the mods. The idea is, if the thread has been locked or removed, it's because there isn't meant to be any more added to it! Doing so is a good way to really irritate moderators Smile

^^ my second thread stated that it was completely un-objective to the last one, in no shape or form was it created to continue the previous thread (the original thread was to determine if i could get away with it) the second thread was not to determine this, but to find an answer to a question that my previous searches couldnt provide.

It also stated that i understood why the previous thread was deleted, and i took responsibility for that and that this thread was in no shape or form a dig at the moderator or to continue the argument.

it seems to me that unless your dealing with people with common sense who can reply like an adult (as i am sure you would of done going by your responses so far) then its useless trying to argue your point however mature your asking

i actually psoted on here in the car related section almost the same question,.........and what can i say? the responses where mature and understanding, and very helpful

which is what i wanted to get from the other forum

asked them to clsoe my account now, i get on with you guys better lol

I think they may have been a little heavy-handed in their approach but I agree with the above that it was probably the right decision. At the end of the day if you start talking about remaps and insurance, you are clearly indicating a desire to find a way to not declare it.

No public entity can advocate that, so they must shut it down. If the thread had simply been can you discover a remap then it might have been more likely to stay alive as the law is not directly involved.
